Learning resources for medical students and trainees
How to use these learning resources
These learning resources are for medical students as well as trainee doctors.
There will be a core set of case-based learning modules and a set of Powerpoint/video tutorials (some still in development) that cover the key aspects of old age psychiatry. Either or both can be used to serve as key learning resources for medical students and as learning/revision for FY, GPVTS and CT doctors.
Other resources are there to provide a wider view of the specialty and will be useful for trainee doctors; medical students may want to dip into these resources depending on their interests and or to help them better understand what they have seen during their placement.
The advanced reading references will be most relevant for Core Trainees during their Old Age Psychiatry placements but may be relevant for medical students and other trainees with a special interest in the area.
The case-based learning modules have been designed to be facilitated by a tutor. Students without access to a tutor might wish to download the tutor versions of the CBLs so that they can work through them independently, using the other learning resources provided or listed.
These resources have been quickly collated because of the need to support students and trainees with remote learning, and will be improved and developed over time. If you have any suggestions or would like to contribute to the resources yourself please contact Dr Jo Rodda via kitti.kottasz@rcpsych.ac.uk.
