Externality
In accordance with the Gold Guide (Version 8, 2020), ARCP panels across the UK must include a minimum of 10% external representation.
To support this requirement, we maintain a dedicated pool of trained External Advisors who attend panels upon request from Deaneries and Local Education and Training Boards (LETBs). All our External Advisors receive comprehensive training provided by the College to ensure consistency, quality, and impartiality in the review process.
Our process has changed
As of October 2025, we’ve introduced a new approach to externality support, with a renewed focus on delivering high-quality training and streamlined coordination.
- Our Commitment
We aim to be the leading provider of high-standard externality training, ensuring advisors are well-prepared and confident in their roles. - New Coordination Model
Schools will now coordinate directly with one another to source External Advisors, fostering collaboration and flexibility across regions. - Biannual Training
Structured training sessions will be held twice a year—in spring and autumn—to enhance advisor readiness and competency. - Centralised EA Database
We maintain a comprehensive and accessible database of trained External Advisors, enabling schools to efficiently identify and connect with suitable support.
