Portfolio Pathway Committee
The Portfolio Pathway Committee is a Committee of the Education and Training Committee (ETC) whose main purpose is to monitor the standards of, create guidance for, and assess Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) applications in psychiatry.
Outside of this initial remit, committee members will also be called upon to advise in relation to wider issues of equivalence and eligibility within psychiatry and will work with the International Division with regards to the review of international Postgraduate Qualifications (PGQs) for eligibility for full registration on the GMC Medical Register.
The Committee will also work with advising and guiding the GMC with regards to suggested changes and improvements to the various systems of equivalence and eligibility that exist both inside and outside of formal training schemes.
Committee Oversight
We have a wealth of knowledge and expertise within the Portfolio Pathway Committee membership and all CESR evaluators, once confirmed, become members and will receive an invitation to attend meetings.
The Committee has a main Chair and Deputy Chair. We also aim to have six Specialty Advisors for each psychiatry specialty in order to provide clear, direct specialist advice and insight, to ensure each specialty is properly represented. To be eligible to apply to become a Specialty Advisor members are required to have completed a minimum of one active year on the Portfolio Pathway Committee.
