Committee Members and CESR Evaluators
The Portfolio Pathway Committee’s main purpose is to assess applications for Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) in Psychiatry and send recommendations to the General Medical Council.
CESR evaluators form part of the Portfolio Pathway Committee membership, which is also made up of representatives from the Specialty Doctor's Committee, the Psychiatric Resident Doctors' Committee and Faculty members representing each psychiatric specialty.
As with many roles in the College the CESR evaluator role requires high levels of confidentiality and commitment to this priority work.
In order to be a CESR evaluator, you must:
- be a Member, Fellow, or Specialist Associate of the College and in good standing
- hold Specialist Registration with the GMC
- have held a consultant post for at least a year
- be able to commit to being a CESR Evaluator for at least a year.
Applications from retired consultants are welcome.

How to become a CESR Evaluator
Evaluator training
All new evaluators are required to undertake CESR Evaluator training and an online College Induction as part of their full introduction into the role. Once training is completed evaluators become members of the Portfolio Pathway Committee and will be invited to meetings. In person Committee meetings are typically held in March and November, depending on room availability. Virtual Evaluator training and meetings may also be scheduled.
If there is sufficient demand we will host ad-hoc training sessions.
