Event Information
Overview
The workplace potential of neurodiverse employees is increasingly understood, where hyperfocus, problem-solving, creativity and attention to detail can bring excellent analytical skills across sectors. Modern work environments within a neurotypical frame can be challenging though, and psychiatrists must understand how to best support their neurodiverse patients in securing, remaining in, and returning to good work.
Due to significant interest in this important area, the Occupational Psychiatry special interest group is delighted to be holding a webinar on neurodiversity and work. We will repeat our successful format where we hear from four expert speakers and then hold a joint panel discussion with questions from the audience. Please do join us online for 1.45 hours from 3pm on Tuesday 10 March 2026.
We will incorporate perspectives from occupational psychology with Nina Parsons, an expert clinical understanding from Alison Lennox, with an academic insight talk from Professor Almuth McDowall and an expert-by-experience view from Rachel Moody to fully appreciate a holistic view of neurodiversity and work. The session will be chaired by Elizabeth Hunt from our own executive committee, and it promises to be an excellent 1.45 hours which will improve all our knowledge and understanding.
Our speakers:
- Nina Parsons: Nina is a chartered occupational psychologist at Insight Workplace Health, past Co-chair at the British Psychological Society Committee on Neurodiversity and Employment, and currently a council member on the Royal Society of Medicine occupational medicine section.
- Rachel Moody: Rachel is an Advocate at the Opening Minds not-for-profit organisation. She is autistic and is a highly regarded speaker with the 萝莉视频 as an expert-by-experience.
- Alison Lennox: Alison is a consultant neurodevelopmental psychiatrist with Cognacity, sits on the executive committee at the neurodevelopmental psychiatry special interest group and is a clinical practitioner specialising in adult autism.
- Almuth McDowall: Almuth is a professor of organisational psychology at Birkbeck University of London, co-director at the Centre for Neurodiversity at Work and a senior editor at the Journal of Organisational and Occupational Psychology.
