Honorary Officers

Jane undertook higher training in both Adult and CAMHS psychiatry and worked in Adolescent services in Glasgow and Edinburgh before joining Aberdeen's Eden Unit (Scotland's first NHS Inpatient Unit and Day Programme for adults with severe Eating Disorders). 

For some years she was Lead Clinician in the North of Scotland MCN for Eating Disorders covering six Northern Health Boards.  She has edited and co-written three books on Eating Disorders and chaired the 2022 SIGN Guideline on Eating Disorders.

During the COVID-19 pandemic she worked in neuropsychiatry and perinatal psychiatry in NHS Grampian. She now participates in the teaching of Medical Students and CESR Fellows, and in campaigning for the mental health of young people. Her most recent book, ‘Improving University Mental Health’ is published at the end of 2023 by Cambridge University Press.

Pavan trained in the west of Scotland and is a consultant in general adult psychiatry in South Glasgow. He has previously held other roles as a Lead Clinician, eHealth lead and Board lead for Mental Health Strategy in NHS GG&C and as the Policy Lead for the RCPsychiS.

He has an interest in service improvement, digital approaches to service delivery and strategic planning with a focus on improving the quality of care and patient experience.

Dr Vivek Pattan works as a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist in Forth Valley.  Along with his clinical work, he is involved in service design and policy work at both local and national levels. Prior to his current role as Meeting Secretary, Vivek served as of Chair of the Faculty of the Old Age Psychiatry Faculty in Scotland.

Adam is a graduate of the University of Glasgow and completed his training in the West of Scotland before taking up a post as a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry in Lanarkshire in 2010. Prior to his current role as Finance Officer, Adam served as the RCPsych in Scotland Meetings Secretary and chaired the Old Age Psychiatry Faculty of the 萝莉视频 in Scotland. He also acts as the Specialty Advisor for Old Age Psychiatry to the Chief Medical Officer.

For a number of years Adam has pursued an interest in medical management.  Following a period as Clinical Director for Old Age Psychiatry in Lanarkshire, he currently hold the post of Associate Medical Director for Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Addictions.  He has a specific interest in Quality improvement and learning from adverse events, and has contributed to the founding of the RCPsych adverse event review accreditation process.

Adam also has an interest in training, recruitment, and retention.  As well as work within the Old Age Psychiatry faculty, he is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Glasgow.

Dr Seamus McNulty has been a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry in NHS Ayrshire and Arran for 21 years. He is the immediate past Chair of the Scottish Faculty of Old Age and was the Training Programme Director for the West of Scotland Old Age Psychiatry programme for 8 years.

As the Associate Post Graduate Dean for Mental Health for the West of Scotland and Chair of the Mental Health Specialty Training Board for Scotland he has oversight of all postgraduate psychiatry education and training for the whole of Scotland.

Seamus is also the Scottish representative on the UK RCPsych Education and Training Committee and the Specialty Advisor to the CMO for Old Age Psychiatry.

Laura's responsibilities include:

  • the RCPsych in Scotland’s communications with other agencies, including the Scottish Government
  • all policy and public affairs work
  • consultation responses and submitting them all by deadline
  • liaising with the Policy team in the College
  • managing the office and staff
  • Medical Managers Group.
