New temporary measures

Job description approval process (September 2025)

Due to demand on the system the College will be implementing temporary new measures to ensure that applications are reviewed more efficiently.
Please note: These measures will not affect the way employers submit applications for approval, nor compromise the quality of reviews undertaken, as all submitted applications will still be held to the same standards of review.

What is the process and timescale?

Where previously the College has conducted a two-stage review process between both a Regional Representative (RSR) and a Regional/ Deputy Regional Advisor (RA/DRA), these new measures will utilise AI systems to undertake initial checks before JDs are reviewed for a final decision by an RA, DRA or RSR.

Due to the current backlog our team is working hard to resolve, we cannot approximate a revised timescale. Under the existing process, the College has committed to a turnaround of 30 working days from submission of each version, and by implementing these temporary measures we can hope to achieve this more consistently.

As previously, this is a guide and will depend on the availability of the College members involved in the review process, and the number of versions under review or amendments required. By completing the checklist alongside your JD it is more likely to be approved within the above time frame.

What happens after your JD has been submitted?

  • Stage 1 – Your JD is assessed against the assessment checklist using AI systems.

  • Stage 2 – Your JD is reviewed and approved by only one RA, DRA, or RSR, who will either confirm approval or recommend changes to the JD, in line with the College's supporting documents.

Aside from these temporary changes, all further information about the JD approval process remains the same, and can be found on the JD approval process page.
