Georga Godwin
Georga Godwin is a senior lawyer currently practices as a Consultant and Freelance Solicitor, specialising in mental health and capacity law. She is an experienced human rights lawyer, specialising in representing forensic patients, children, especially those with autism. Georga also provides legal opinions and capacity assessments for NHS Trusts, ICBs, and Provider Collaboratives, mainly regarding risk-management strategies and legal frameworks for high-profile cases.
Georga was called to the Bar in July 2005 and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2008. She is a member of The Law Society’s Mental Health Panel, and the Mental Health Lawyers Association.
Georga was short-listed for The Law Society’s Human Rights Lawyer of the Year 2018, (the only mental health lawyer ever to be nominated). She is a contributor to the Oxford Textbook of In-Patient Psychiatry (OUP, 2019).
