Professor Ramalingam Chithiramohan: Pharmacological management of Chronic Insomnia with a special focus on the role of Orexin and Dual Orexin receptor Antagonists 

Professor Ramalingam Chithiramohan, is a Consultant Psychiatrist and former Deputy Medical Director and Director of Governance and Service Effectiveness at the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust. He is now the Lead Consultant for Birmingham and Solihull Memory Assessment services. 

In the last three years, he was involved with the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) in delivering education in Low and Middle income countries. He has developed a number of online training modules on Vascular Cognitive Impairment/ HIV and mental health, timely diagnosis of dementia and Dementias with Parkinsonian features. He was also a member of the WPA Evidence-Based Psychopharmacology Special Interest Group.    

Key learning outcomes of presentation:

  • To learn about the health implications of Chronic insomnia  
  • To learn about the role of Orexin in Sleep Wake regulation 
  • To learn about the appropriate short and longer-term use of hypnotics 

This event will be recorded and available to all registered delegates to watch on-demand. The recording will be available within one week of the live event taking place and will be emailed out to all registered delegates. The recording will be available to watch for 60 days from the event taking place.

Copies of speakers slides will be in included with the recording but only in cases where we have received permission from the speaker.
